Narrative Synopsis
Ueno, a pensioner, lost his wife seven years ago and now lives alone with his second daughter, Akemi. Ueno handles all the household chores in place of Akemi, who is a career woman. One day, Ueno meets a young woman named Marika. He rescues her from the street when she is breaking up with her abusive boyfriend, Kenji. Marika has a panic attack and is having trouble breathing, so Ueno lets her rest at his house. She tells him that her stepfather forced her into a relationship with him, which caused her to run away from home, and that she has been estranged from her parents ever since, and that she has no intention of going back to Kenji...
